Middle distance star Winnie Nanyondo will be the lone Ugandan among the world star-studded field, gracing the 800m track at the Doha Diamond League on Friday.
According to the Doha race provisional list, Nanyondo will be competing against a very strong opposition of six World stars in the 10 women contest for 800m top honours.
The Ugandan who boasts a 1:58:63 personal best time in 800m will contend with a strong field commanded by Ethiopian Alemu Habitam who tops with a 1:56:31 personal best.
She is followed by Kenyans Eunice Jepkoech 1:56:99, Faith Kipyegon 1:58:02, Emily Cherotich 1:58:04, Polish Angelika Cichocka 1:58:41, and British Oskan Clarke Shelayna 1:58:86.
Nanyondo finished ninth previously in the 1500m at the Golden Spike’s Continental tour in Ostrava, Czech republic in a race won by Kenyan Faith Kipyegon.
The Doha Diamond League is the 4th and final competition of the shortened 2020 Diamond League series due to the challenging Covid-19 pandemic circumstances.
