Police has provided a formal assurance that the security will be tight as masses set for the 2018 Rotary Cancer run.
The much awaited event is set to take place this Sunday, on the 26th of August 2018 at 7.00am at Kololo Independence Grounds and in 36 other towns across the country.
The run is being sponsored by Leading banking institution in Uganda, Centenary Bank that made a sh155M contribution, the seventh time that the Bank shall be partnering with Rotary Uganda in the fight against Cancer.
While addressing the Press on Friday morning at Kati Kati, Police Spokesperson Emilan Kayima revealed: “All the participants in the run are guaranteed of maximum security.”
He added: “I call upon the participants to be cautious about their belongings as many people will come with different intentions. We pledge to give total support but it starts with you.”
Kayima also urged the runners to be very critical of their children.
Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Police Commander, Norman Musinga revealed that there will temporary closure of roads to help the participants run smoothly.
He cautioned: “Motorists are advised to adhere to traffic rules and regulations. Participants with cars will park at Games Stores, City Parents Primary school and Hotel Africana.”
