Assailants Stab 2 Police Officers to Death in Kasese

Two police officers have been stabbed to death by unknown assailants in Kasese in an incident that occurred Sunday night, visit web according to Police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

The two officers who were security guards under the tourism police at Simba Tourist Lodge have been identified as Danson Tweheyo hailing from Bushenyi and Karemera from Ibanda both at the rank of Police Constable.

According to Kaweesi, remedy Police used sniffer dogs which led them to the office of the Assistant Manager, click Juma Tembo but they are yet to confirm whether he too was involved in the crime. Tembo has already been arrested and investigations are ongoing.

“The two police officers were stabbed with machetes and their SMG guns taken. We suspect that the killers were many. Offices at the lodge were also broken into and a safe containing unspecified amounts of money along with computers stolen,” said the police spokesperson during a news conference at the Police headquarters in Naguru on Monday.

Kaweesi was however quick to separate the incident from the insurgency that has characterized the Rwenzori region saying “this was a criminal incident and not an insurgency as some are speculating.”

He referred to the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and ‘terrifying’
