The UPDF has spoken out on the whereabouts of retired Maj Gen Kasirye Ggwanga, saying he is being hospitalized at a military facility in Kampala.
Defence spokesperson Brigadier Richard Karemire said the controversial general “has been admitted to the UPDF Senior Officers Diagnostic Centre based in Mbuya.”
He added: “Doctors are taking care of him and there is no reason to speculate on his current whereabouts.”
This followed reports that Ggwanga, who is known for speaking his mind and also engaging in violent acts, has been arrested by the military.
Ggwanga was reportedly quoted as saying he rejected military guards leading to his arrest by the army.
But Karemire said Ggwanga “is not under any form of arrest.”
Ggwanga was recently involved in acts of violence in Mubende district.
