Court Martial Chairman Lt Gen Andrew Gutti will deliver on notice the sentence of four UPDF soldiers who were convicted of offences relating to security.
Lt Col Philip Frank Eguma, Captain Hillman Bosco Alepere, Lt Ronald Waibi Mwavu and Private Kenneth Sekajja aka Mutume pleaded guilty to the charges last week.
These today had appeared to receive their sentence but the judge Advocate (legal advisor of this court) Lt Col Gideon Katinda informed them that court members didn’t get time to hold deliberations.
“We shall notify you any time in the course of this week in case your sentence is ready,” ruled chairman Gutti.
Meanwhile, in the same court sitting, Counsel Frederick Semwanga stepped down from representing the four convicts and remained with the other ten suspects. The four took on Lt Brian Moogi as their new counsel.
This matter was adjourned to 26th March 2018 for further hearing of the case against the 10 accused persons.
The 14 said in 2013 to have omitted to disclose vital information about recruitment of people to engage into activities intended to prejudice the security of the defense forces by attacking the armored warfare barracks in Mubende district.
