Kampala Metropolitan Police is investigating an incident in which armed robbers shot dead a boda boda rider in Bulaga along Mityana road.
In the incident that happened Saturday night, it is said that two armed men shot dead a one Husien Mutyaba, a boda boda rider in the area.
Eyewitnesses say that the robbers were fleeing a scene after robbing two women when Mutyaba tried to pursue them.
It is said that the two female victims identified as Doreen Namhtebi and Flavia Nankya were mobile money dealers and were attacked on their way home after closing their outlets.
The women alerted Mutyaba, now deceased to help chase the thieves since they were also ridding a motorcycle.
In the chase, the robbers shot Mutyaba twice killing him instantly.
The incident shocked the residents and also put police response under the spotlight as many question its capacity in fighting crime.
The incident has also raised debate in the public domain in regards to the efficiency of the newly installed CCTV cameras as the murder took place just a few meters from the security gadgets.
Residents argue that at least CCTV commanders and operators would have been able to alert Bulenga police station to intercept the robbers immediately.
