Archbishop Emeritus of Tororo Catholic Archdiocese His Grace James Odongo has passed away.
Odongo who served as the Archbishop of Tororo Archdiocese from January 1999 to June 2007 died today in Kampala aged 89.
This was announced by the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC).
“The Lord has visited us again this morning. It is with sadness that we announce the demise of who has passed on this Friday 4th Dec 2020 at Nsambya Hospital,” the UEC announced.
Born in March 1931 in Tororo, Archbishop served among others as the Auxiliary Bishop of Tororo, Uganda from 1964 until 19 August 1968,
On 2 January 1999, Odongo became the first Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tororo.
He retired from that position on 27 June 2007.
Following the death of Right Reverend Colin Cameron Davis, Bishop Emeritus of Ngong Diocese, in Kenya, Archbishop Odongo became the “Only Living Representative from AMECEA Region at the Vatican II Council.”
