The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has asked all Ugandans to look for a Q mark or Certificate of Conformity (COC) on all brands of Sanitizer they intend to buy amid the widening Coronavirus crisis.
According to Maureen Kamusiime from the Public relations office of UNBS, all Sanitizers made in Uganda and certified must possess a Q Mark symbol while those manufactured from other countries should have a certificate of Conformity issued by UNBS officials.
“In Uganda UNBS has certified two companies to produce Sanitizers that is Saraya Manufacturing Uganda Limited and Geno Hitexh Uganda Limited.”
Kamusiime advised Ugandans to continue using Sanitizers and other disinfectants as one of the means of preventing the pandemic of COVID 19.
“The Ministry of Health advised that people should drink lots of water, eat fruits regularly so that in case of any attack by the disease, it finds you strong. We would also like advise Ugandans that in case you buy sanitizer and suspect it to be fake , call UNBS -Toll free line 0800133133 for more details.”
She promised that their teams are on ground to ensure that there are no substandard products on the market.
