Anti-Corruption Unit Arrests Man for Alleged Murder of IHK Nurse

State House Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has Thursday arrested a man who allegedly killed his wife in a homicide incident that shook Kampala last week.

The man identified as Simon Samanya is said to have killed his wife Viola Kakai who was also a midwife at the International Hospital Kampala (IHK).

“Police detectives attached to our office have today arrested Mr. Samanya Simon Wanyakala from Isingiro, who has been in hiding after allegedly murdering his wife Viola Kakai, a Midwife at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) on the fateful night of 1st August, 2020,” reads the statement from the ACU

Preliminary intelligence gathered by security agencies indicated that in April 2020, the couple had disagreements and eventually separated after they had an HIV test which yielded discontent results.

This prompted the victim to leave their home and could occasionally visit to check on her children.

“On the fateful day, she had visited her children who were living with their father; that’s when a fight ensued between the two and she was murdered by her husband Simon Samanya,” said police spokesperson Fred Enanga

Simon has been in hiding for more than one week until he was picked from his home district where he was hiding.

Police earlier urged whoever had information on the whereabouts of Simon to inform the nearest police stations.
