ANT Party Releases 2021 Election Road Map

The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) party on Monday released its roadmap for the 2021 general elections.

Addressing a press conference in Kampala, Mr. Wilberforce Seryazi, the party spokesperson, said they will hold a National Delegates Conference on August 6, 2020, where they will elect a presidential flag bearer in the 2021 election.

He said Party members interested to take on President Museveni or lead the party into a coalition, have up to June 25 to pick nomination forms.

“Identification of candidates at other positions has been ongoing at the grassroots; we have been building, we have regional coordinators and sub-regional coordinators as well as district, constituency and sub-county,” he said.

Mr Seryazi also explained that the Delegates Conference will be composed of three leaders from every district who will comprise the Party’s District Chairperson, Youth League Chairperson as well as Chairperson of the Women’s League.

According to the road map, 22nd -25th June is when candidates pick nomination forms.

July 1st and July 2nd is when party nominates candidates for presidential flag bearer.

On 3rd July, the party will harmonize campaign programs (those who are nominated will be required to submit campaign programs with agents.)

From 6th July to 3rd August, campaigns within the party will take place. On July 26, open campaigns and presidential debates will take place.

On 4th to 5th August will be Accreditation of delegates and 6th August is the National Delegates Conference (election of flag bearer.)

Mr Dan Mugarura, the party’s head of electoral affairs, said the roadmap had been issued in compliance with the National Electoral Commission Roadmap.
