Abdul Semujju is the fifth person to be charged with torture and causing grievous harm to Kamwenge Mayor Godfrey Byamukama, after he was arrested in April at the Ministry of Lands in connection with the murder of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
Semujju is charged alongside four other police officers who all pleaded not guilty of the charges read to them by Buganda Road court chief magistrate Jamson Karemani.
Assistant Superintendent of police Patrick Muramira, ASP Fred Tumuhairwe, Habib Roma (driver) and Ben Odeke and others still at large were charged two months back with two offences of torture and causing to grievous harm of which they pleaded not guilty and released on bail.
Harriet Nakigozi the state Prosecutor handling this matter informed court that investigations in this matter are still underway and asked for further adjournment
The trial magistrate h adjourned this case to 4th August for mention.
Byamukama was arrested on 5thApril at the ministry of lands over murdering former police spokesman Andrew Felix Kaweesi and taken to Nalufenya police where he was allegedly tortured.
