Bushenyi district and Ankole as a whole are mourning the passing of one of the remaining pillars of Nkore culture, Lay Canon Zabron Rushambuza.
Mzee Rushambuza also known as Ayimukama passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 93.
His death was announced by the Acting Secretary General of Abagoma Clan Rev. Ben Jackson Bitungirwe.
Rev Bitungirwe said Rushambuza died at his home in Ntungamo village, Nyakabirizi in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.
The deceased was revered in the cultural, religious and business circles.
He was among others the chairman of Batizi ba Bagoma in Kitembe, a successful farmer and businessman.
He loved religion and was one of the people who built Nyakabirizi church of Uganda.
Rushambuza was born in 1927 to Mutimbo and Kabera. Mutimbo was the leader of Abagoma clan of Igara.
His children are successful businessmen. One of them, Apollo Mutungi, is the owner of Quality Supermarket in Kampala, while Obadiah Ntebekeine imports cars for sale.
