Constance Kabakaali Muhangazima, mother to veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda. has died.
She was 84.
Mr Mwenda announced Monday evening that his mother passed away at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
“I would like to inform all our friends and family that our dear mother, Mrs Constance Muhangazima, has just passed away at Nakasero Hospital about ten minutes ago,” Mwenda announced on social media.
“We shall be informing all about the next plans for escorting her to the paradise she prepared her life for.”
Muhangazima suffered heart complications.
The deceased was also the mother of Burahya County MP Hon Magreat Muhanga.
In her ill-health, Mrs Muhangazima was twice visited by President Museveni at her home.
Early last month during the president’s recent visit to her home in Kanyandahi, Ruteete Sub-County in Kabarole district, Mrs Muhangzima had just undergone heart surgery.
Museveni spent hours in her living room and joined her in singing Christian hymns.
If you want the president to relax, sing Christian hymns in vernacular, take him to Kanyandahi, the most beautiful and relaxing village in Uganda. It even gets better when you put him in the company of the old lady of Kanyandahi. When those two meet, the world holds its breath pic.twitter.com/reQCAQ5Tr9

Earlier in February last year, the president attended a thanksgiving ceremony in her honor.
At the event, Museveni praised her and her late husband Phillip Muhangazima for living an exemplary life in the area, that inspired others to take a step ahead in socio-economic development.
