Amuru district has started risk assessment for all frontline security personnel at the Elegu Border point
Geoffrey Oceng Osborn the Amuru Deputy Resident District Commissioner in a statement noted that some of their front-line security personnel’s lack basic equipment like facemasks and shields; which exposes them to the risk of Covid19.
Mr. Oceng said this was the reason behind the rise in cases of Covid-19 among security personnel in Elegu border.
‘’ Truck drivers talk down to security personnel at the check point while they are inside their vehicle which accelerates droplets to reach them due to force of gravity.’’ Mr. Oceng said in a statement.
About 27 security personnel in Amuru have already contracted Covid-19 in the line of their duty.
According to the RDC, observing social distance among the forces is also hard because they have very limited space in their place of residence.
