Uganda has lost yet another high profile person to the Covid19 virus.
Officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Monday morning that veteran diplomat Amb. Stephen Nabeta had lost the battle to the virus.
Details of his passing were still scanty by publication of this, but the development was confirmed by the current ministry Permanent Secretary Amb Patrick Mugoya.
“I have just heard from a colleague in New York who talked to the family and confirmed it. This is a double tragedy for us because we just lost another diplomat, Amb. Naigaga in Nairobi last weekend,” Mugoya told Chimpreports.
Amb. Nabeeta was one of the first ambassador appointments by the NRM government, having been posted to Kigali Rwanda in 1986.
Over the years, he served among others as the head of Protocol and as the Foreign Affairs Ministry Permanent Secretary between 1996-1998.
Outside Diplomacy, Nabeta was also one of the founders and Board Chairman of Mercantile Credit Bank.
