The Uganda Communications Commission is taking its 7th Communications Consumer Parliament (CCP7) to Mbale town in Eastern Uganda.
The event is slated for this Friday 28th September at Wash and Wills Hotel in Mbale.
UCC’s Head of Public Relations, Pamela Ankunda says the event will be running under the theme “Celebrating 20 years of Excellence”.
“This is in line with the Commission’s mandate to promote and safeguard the interests of consumers and empowering them to have a say in regulating the sector,” Ankunda said.
UCC has been holding such Communications Consumer Parliament events since 2014, to facilitate interaction between consumers and service providers of communication services and products.
The events have helped provide platform for multi-stakeholder discussions on issues related to among others usage and performance of communication services; consumer rights and obligations; and service provider’s obligations to provide redress and resolution of consumer complaints.
The Mbale Consumers’ Parliament is expected to be graced by the Minister of ICT and National Guidance Hon Frank Tumwebaze and hosted by the Executive Director, Godfrey Mutabazi.
Meanwhile, during the run up to the event, the Consumer Affairs team at UCC has been conducting joint information points and activations alongside telecommunication operators by engaging consumers at the grassroots in what is dubbed the “UCC Consumer Week”.
These activations have been held at Bukedea cattle market, (Monday 18/09/2018), Kyemwanga market (Tuesday 19/09/2018) and at Kamu market today.
Tomorrow, the activation will be at Bukigai market along Mbale – Bududa road) while on Friday it will be at Mbale Central Market in Mbale Town.
