The sixth edition of the CBA Uganda Vintage and Classic Auto Show is on this Saturday at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel Gardens.
The annual competition of beauty, preservation and history of cars and motorcycles in Uganda is this year themed “Vintage is elegance”.
The show often attracts Kampalans who have special interest in automobiles, particularly from the former years.
Cars eligible for the competition, according to organizers, are those that go beyond 25 years. That implies that their date of manufacture shouldn’t exceed December 31, 1992.
Participants from Kenya`s Concurs d`Elegance have also been confirmed.
Competing cars will be reviewed by a panel of 4 judges; 2 international and 2 local.
Each car will be scored based on standard judging criteria.
Gates are set to open at 10 am on Saturday
Organizers also promise a Retro Fashion show headlined by Joram Muzira Model Management (JMM) showcasing hair, makeup and dresses from yester years.
Renowned reggae maestro Madoxx Ssemantimba has also been confirmed for the show.
On the eve of the event, all car owners will assemble at Mogas Nalya for fueling, servicing, washing and polishing their cars and then drive off in the ‘Snail Trail’—a slow procession of cars to Sheraton gardens.
That evening, Sheraton Hotel Kampala will also host a Vintage Party at Equator Bar.
