With the top tier league climaxing last week, action in beach soccer continues with another exciting tournament this weekend.
The national Schools Beach Soccer Championship running for the 6th edition is on this Saturday 1st July 2017 at Lido Beach Resort Entebbe.
This is the 6th edition of the schools beach soccer competition on UBSA and Fufa calendar.
It’s a purely secondary schools tournament launched in 2012.
The tournament is aimed at offering a chance to the school going students with the championship staged annually.
Due to limitations in the beach soccer fields across the country , the tournament is still on the invitation format with few schools invited to take part in a one day championship.
Plans are underway to have the championship taken to other parts of the country.
“In future we shall have regional qualifiers in all Fufa footballing regions i.e, Kitara Region, Western region, Northern region, West Nile region, North East, Eastern region, Buganda and Kampala regions,” Said Joseph Tamale, chairman UBSA Schools committee and head teacher Munta Royal College.
“We call upon schools to embrace beach soccer as a new dynamic, cost effective, skillful and entertaining sport,” he added.
