The legendary Afrigo band is set to perform at the ‘My Culture My Identity’ (MCMI) maiden gala happening on the 22nd this month at the Uganda Museum.
The gala organized by Culture World is the inaugural event of what is going to be an annual festival geared towards showcasing and promoting the Ugandan culture.
During a press conference held yesterday, Lavinia Tuhimbise, founder of Culture World stated that the theme of the event is inspired by the potential for the youth to find opportunities in promoting their unique culture identities.
“The experience at MCMI will bring memories from everyone’s childhood and expectations for the future to make for an exciting and inspiring experience,” Tuhimbise assured the media.
Celebrated fashionista Joram Muzira will be gracing the run way with his models showcasing different cultural designs for the revelers.
“We are going to merge other countries traditional fashions in appreciation for all cultures. You do not necessarily have to come in a ‘gomesi’, cultural wears can be unique and stylish too,” Muzira encouraged.
The organizers have programmed a number of activities to be enjoyed by partiers of different ages for example: bazaar, exhibitions, fashion show, poetry, mini tournaments, comedy and performances headlined by Afrigo Band.
All proceedings will be donated to a girl child organization ‘Kaleke Kasome’ to support a number of girls in providing their basics.
