The Africa Strategic Leadership Centre has today shed light on the inaugural ‘Africa Now Summit’ which is scheduled for 12-13th March, 2019 at the Common Wealth Resort and Conference Centre, Munyonyo where several African Heads of State, government officials and high level representatives from the African Union are to be hosted.
The officials will be joined by members from the private sector, youth leaders, civil society and public- policy experts to discuss various tools of political and economic transformation to secure the future of Africa. Among the heads of state taking part is President Museveni, who is going to be the keynote speaker and co-host of the summit.
In his remarks, Dr. Robert Mwesigwa, the ASLC Board Chairman said, “More than 1000 people are expected in Munyonyo and this will give us a chance to tackle topics like environment, youth unemployment, economic integration and investment.”
“Another core objective of the Summit is to promote Pan Africanism in Africa. It is crucial that Africans remain at the forefront of Africa’s development and drive efforts to shape and influence Africa’s growth,” he added.
Africa Strategic Leadership Centre has in a bid to push its objectives forward, partnered with different organizations in doing research, such as Makerere University, the Kwame Nkrumah Lecture and African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM). The Centre has also collaborated with the media to popularize various campaigns among which is the yet to happen ‘Africa Now Summit’ which is going to be held biennially.
Other officials present were: the Ethiopian Airways Country Director Mr. Abebe Angessa, Betty Bigombe, the ASLC Board Member and Mr Joe Kigozi, the Chief Strategy officer Next Media Services.
