AFRICA NETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP: Uganda Outwits Zimbabwe to Edge Closer to Title

Uganda Netball team (She Cranes) continued her dominance in the ongoing Africa Netball championship with a comprehensive victory against Zimbabwe on Wednesday.

Uganda led right from onset to win the game 61-45 and like she has always done, skipper Peace Proscovia led by example.

In the game played at the Lugogo indoor stadium, the She Cranes led the opening set 16-08.

The gap grew bigger in the second period with Uganda managing 16 while Zimbabwe who improved from the sloppy start scored 14 goals.

However this did not stop Uganda to lead 32-22 heading into the mandatory break.

The dominance from Cranes continued even after recess with goal attacker Stella Oyella too, rising to the occasion.

Oyella was later withdrawn for Rachael Nanyonga.

Shamim Nakachwa too paved way for Desire Obua towards the closing stages of the game.


The She cranes added 29 more goals in the final 30minutes while Zimbabwe who finished with a player less, collected 23.

Uganda are destined to winning the title after going all their four games unbeaten and have Zambia to play on the closing day of the tournament(Thursday).
