Jamila ‘Zama’ Nansikombi has been KPA’s go to player at the ongoing 2018 FIBA Africa Women Basketball Championship in Maputo, Mozambique.
Zama scored a game high 18 points as KPA edged MB2ALL 65-73 in their last group game on Tuesday.
The victory sees KPA finish inside the quarter finals bracket – The Kenyan side came third from a five team log with two wins and two losses.
KCCA point guard Cynthia Irankunda who was also acquired by the Kenyan side, collected 14 points. Taudencia Olouch and Brenda Nanzala reached double digits with 14 and 11 points respectively.
The top four teams from each group qualify for the Quarter-Finals, with Group A crossing Group B (A1-B4; A2-B3; A3-B2; A4-B1).
The second phase of the tournament will be played in a knockout format from the Quarter-finals to the Finals.
Zama shot 6/13 on the field. She has now averaged 24 points, the highest at the ongoing tournament so far.
The JKL energetic forward scored 26 points against Lakers, 27 against First Bank and 25 against INSS.
KPA will face Pool A second placed team (either Ferroviario Maputo or Inter Clube) at the quarter finals.
