The Frenchman, Sebastian Desabre, believes that his Uganda Cranes squad has a chance to beat hosts, Egypt in the last match of their group A stages.
Uganda is looking to come out of the groups after a failed attempt in Gabon 2017 but have to manoeuvre their way past DR Congo, Zimbabwe and the Pharaohs.
The hosts have been touted as the most favourites to win the biennial tournament on home soil but Desabre banks on beating them to progress to the knockouts.
He bases his belief in the fact that Uganda has played the Egyptians thrice in the last two years with the Pharaohs winning twice by a 1-0 margin and Uganda winning once by the same score line.
“It is always a pleasure to play Egypt. At the last AFCON we were together and they won 1-0, we also played in a FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 qualifier in Kampala and we won 1-0. It has always been close which means we can have a chance,” said the Frenchman.
“It is an advantage for them to be playing at home with all the support they can get and that will make it a bit difficult. But we are ready for that challenge.”
