AFCON U23 Qualifiers
South Sudan 2-0 Uganda
South Sudan Advance 2-1 on Aggregate
South Sudan put up a remarkable performance to shockingly eliminate Uganda out of the U23 Total CAF qualifiers.
The Junior Brights Stars defeated the Kobs in the return leg 2-0 to overturn the first leg deficit and advance 2-1 on aggregate.
A goal in either half from Michael Peter Taku and Wol Makweth ensured South Sudan won the game played at Juba stadium on Tuesday.
Taku broke the deadlock in the 24th minute capitalising on a goal howler by shot stopper Saidi Keni.
Despite efforts to level matters, Uganda failed to break past a resilient South Sudanese back line.
Wasswa Bossa, the head coach for the Jobs made changes introducing Duncan Sseninde and Joseph Ssemujju for Joel Madondo and Allan Okello respectively.
However, the changes did not pay off dividends and instead it was the home side who doubled the lead in stoppage time.
Makweth who plays for Mbarara City FC in the Uganda Premier League scored the goal that propelled South Sudan to the next round.
South Sudan will now face Tunisia in the next and final qualification round.
