The Pharaohs of Egypt registered a slim 1-0 win over East African side, Tanzania, in an international build up match on Thursday night.
The match that was played in Alexandria at the iconic Borg El Arab stadium was meant to shape both teams ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations next week.
The lone strike was scored by Aston Villa star Ahmed El Mohamady in the 64th minute.
It is largely believed that Egypt’s choice to play the Taifa Stars is to test their team and prepare for the Uganda Cranes in their last group A game.
Uganda played Tanzania twice in the qualifiers, drawing one and losing the other 3-1 in Dar Es Salaam.
Egypt stars Mohammed Salah who plays for Liverpool and Mohammed El Neny of Arsenal both stayed out of the friendly affair.
Egypt will open the tournament on Friday 21st against Zimbabwe then take on DR Congo on 26th and Uganda Cranes on 30th.
Tanzania on the other side, will start their group C campaign against Senegal on 23rd then Kenya on 27th and sum up with Algeria on 1st July.
