As expected, Algeria and Senegal players have dominated the official 2019 Africa Cup of Nations team of the tournament.
Algeria, who were indisputably the best team throughout the tournament, finished on a high with a slim 1-0 win over the Lions of Teranga in the final on Friday.
CAF, the continental supreme football governing body, released a team of eleven players who performed better than the rest according to their technical study group and statisticians.
The two finalists contributed up to nine players with Senegal providing five and Algeria four.
Algeria’s Rais M’Bolhi, who flew home with the golden glove is in goal with Senegal’s defensive trio of Lamine Gassama, Youssouf Sabaly, and Kalidou Koulibaly together with Yassine Meriah (Tunisia) forming the four-man defensive wall.
Algerian duo Adlene Guediora and Ismael Bennacer and Idrissa Gana Gueye from Senegal have been named the best midfielders.
Upfront, Nigeria’s Jude Odion Ighalo who scored five and scooped the golden boot stands beside Liverpool star Sadio Mane of Senegal and Manchester City’s Riyadh Mahrez who captains Algeria.
The winning coach Djamel Belmadi beats Aliou Cisse to the best coach of the tournament.
