There is an old adage that goes: One man’s meat is another man’s poison. That could be the case in the DR Congo and Kenya situation.
The two together with Guinea, South Africa, Benin and Angola are currently third in their respective groups in the Africa Cup of Nations going on in Egypt.
DR Congo thumped Zimbabwe 4-0 on Sunday in their last group game as the Kenyans lost 3-0 to Senegal on Monday night. They had loss 2-0 to both Egypt and Uganda.
Kenya’s loss and South Africa’s 1-0 defeat to Morocco on Sunday means that the two have ended the group games with a deficit of 1 and four goals respectively.
Before their last game, DR Congo had a minus 4 but their huge win over Zimbabwe left them with no debt. That means that, in any scenario –including Angola and Benin’s final games-, Congo will be among the four third best-placed teams –therefore, qualify to the next stage.
