Midfielder Moses Waiswa will not feature for Uganda Cranes in the Africa Cup of Nations that start later this month in Egypt.
The midfielder was a crucial part of the team during the final phase of the qualifiers but will not play any role in Egypt after picking a knee injury.
Cranes’ medical team confirmed that he won’t recover in time for the games.
“The technical team has confirmed the player will not take any part further in the camp in Abu Dhabi following medical assessments of the injury,” Uganda Cranes chief media officer Ahmed Hussein confirmed in a statement on Friday.
He added that, “Plans are underway to organise his travel back home for further treatment and recovery of the injury. It is a pity for the young man who had a dream to feature at the Continnet’s biggest soccer show piece. We wish him a quick recovery.”
Waiswa joins Denis Iguma in the list of stars who will miss the tournament due to injury concerns.
