Sebastian Desabre, the Uganda Cranes head coach, has reassured the team’s fans and nation at large that captain Denis Onyango is fine.
The goalkeeper was stretchered off the field of play in the second half after conceding two goals against Egypt in their last group game. Ahmed Elmohamady and Mohammed Salah scored the goals.
According to the team’s medical team, Onyango felt dizzy and, therefore, could not continue the game.
They revealed that the keeper had been attacked by a bout of flu two days prior to the match. However, on a good note, at least to his fans, the keeper is up and running going by Desabre’s words.
“Dennis Onyango is doing well. He never got injured. He has been down with flu for the last two days but he is very okay,” the coach revealed.
Uganda will get back in action on Friday in the round of 16.
