A win or at least a draw against Zimbabwe will see Uganda through to the knockout rounds of the 2019 Africa Cup of nations going on in Egypt, thanks to the new 24-team format.
Apart from the top two teams from the groups, the four best third-placed teams will also qualify to the next round.
Uganda is currently top of group A with three points same as Egypt.
They face the Zimbabwe Warriors on Wednesday night with an eye to the next round. They beat DR Congo 2-0 in commanding style on Saturday but to progress, the team’s gaffer Sebastian Desabre believes, they have to step up the performance.
“We respect Zimbabwe so much but we are focused on our team. We need to correct some mistakes from the first game, we played a good gamebut not a perfect one and we need to improve them,” the coach
He added that: “We top the table now but we need to have a minimum of 4 points to qualify, Zimbabwe is a very good team and it’s not easy for us to play against them. We’re ready to give our best and I hope we can win.”
