Uganda Cranes new boys will undergo their first real test on Sunday night as the team takes on Turkmenistan at the New York University stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Though the Asian country is lowly-ranked, the likes of England-based Bevis Mugabi, Alexis Bakka, Abdu Lumala and ‘dancing rasta’ Allan Kateregga have to bring their A-game to stake a claim on the 23-man squad that will be named for the finals.
Head coach Sebastian Desabre previously warned the players to up their game, not to relax and make the best use of the two test matches.
“Everything is moving on very well but I don’t expect any one of you to relax. We have two friendly matches on 9th and 15thJune before we fly out to Egypt,” he warned as quoted by Fufa media.
“Give me every reason to pick you in the final squad. The mind and body of each player in camp must remain focused to make my work very easy when selecting the final 23 man squad next week.”
Uganda will start their campaign on June 22nd against DR Congo, then face Zimbabwe on 26th and Egypt on 30th June.
