Afcon 2017 Qualifiers: Rwanda, Tanzania Fail Hurdle

Rwanda’s Amavubi stars and Tanzania’s Taifa stars’ hopes of qualifying for the 2017 Gabon African Cup of Nations hit a rock after the two suffered defeats at their respective homes on Saturday afternoon.

The Amavubi came from down twice but could not redeem selves from Mozambique’s sour revenge at the Amahoro stadium.
Elias Gaspar Pelembe put the visitors on the back foot with his 10th minute opener. Gor Mahia’s Jacques Tuyisenge brought faint hope for coach Mckinstry side but were unfortunate to go into the break trailing after Apson Manjate’s goal at the depth of the opening half.

Tuyisenge doubled his tally in the 78th from club teammate Abouba Sibomana’s well calculated cross.

Pelembe killed Rwanda’s hopes just eight minutes to the end.

The loss means Rwanda, discount with six points cannot top the group with only one game to go and fail the grade for best runners up slot. Consequently, information pills Ghana who have accumulated an assailable ten points, ask qualify with two remaining.

Tanzania 0-2 Egypt.

Mohammed Salah made work easy for the Pharaohs against the Swahili nation with two goals in either halves. Tanzania remain with only a single point and only one to go against Nigeria in September. Both teams can’t make the runners up.
