Adjumani: Police Arrest Refugees, Evangelist For Murder 

Police in Adjumani on Friday paraded in court two refugees and an Evangelist for allegedly murdering a born again pastor.

The trio were charged for organizing a mob on Tuesday that attacked a female pastor killing her instantly.

According to reports, the deceased was identified as Margaret Bunia , aged 45 years old and a resident of Dufele Sub county, Moyo district.

Police said she had come from Moyo to the refugee camps of Adjumani district to preach the word of God and she attracted a big congregation.

An eye witness who preferred anonymity recounted that the huge congregation made the area pastor jealous.

It was alleged that the pastor later wrote a memoranda labeling the deceased to be a witch.

He said that they mobilized block leaders and residents into secret meetings where they hatched plans that led to the murder.

Speaking to chimp corps, SSP Josephine Angucia said by the time Police was alerted, it was too late.


The regional police publicist also said that after the nasty incident, the force instituted an investigation which led to the arrest of the key suspects.

“An intelligence led operation was conducted  yesterday 10th/08/2018 early morning leading to the arrest of Kato Evarest Duku 42, a refugee residing at Pagirinya Settlement and Gama James Andruga 46, Madi of South Sudan, a Refugee of Pagirinya Settlement,” she revealed.

She added that other prime suspects are said to have escaped back to South Sudan.

Meanwhile, the arrested Evangelist was identified as Ondoga Alex, 41, and he is attached to International Missionaries for Christ, Disciple Making Movement( DMM), and was picked from his residence at Bar Village, Longwagwa Parish, Zaipi sub county, Adjumani district.

Police however has contained the situation at the camps as inquiries continue under Adjumani CRB 410/2018.
