The Minister of Internal Affairs, Gen. Jeje Odong and his junior Obiga Kania have arrived at the residence of slain Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga.
Wearing warm clothing, Gen Odong first checked out the crime scene at around 11:15pm.
Escorted by police counter terrorism squads and armed security personnel, Odong later walked to Abiriga’s home.
Both Ministers were yet to speak to the media.
“They are currently attending to mourners at the late’s home a few meters from the scene of crime,” reports Nixon Segawa.
Abiriga and his military bodyguard were killed near his home in Kawanda, Wakiso District by unknown assailants who sped off on a motorcycle.
Police say the killers are currently unknown.
The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga and Democratic Party president Norbert Mao have condemned the killing of Abiriga.
Mao described the incident as a “shock” before praising the deceased as “straightforward”.
“Here is a man who spoke straight and what you saw was what you got. I condemn this murder.”
President Museveni has since asked security services to swing into action to hunt for Abiriga’s killers.
