A Ka Dope Launches ‘One Night Only’ Series

A Ka Dope, an initiative started in order to provide a platform for local artistes to showcase their talent and garner support from the general public, has Tuesday launched yet another series of the show dubbed ‘One Night Only’.

‘One Night Only’, according to the organizers, will be comprised of seven different shows, starting off the season featuring singer Ykee Benda in April 17, 2020.

While launching the 2020 edition, Francis Kyomukama, A Ka Dope Team Leader cited that Africa, most importantly Uganda, is gifted with diverse talents, but most of the young people with these talents are struggling underground, a thing that has led them to remain dormant with their talents wasting away.

“Most of the artistes are not aware of what they have got not until they are told. Someone needs to control what they post on social media, how they dress among other things and it’s for that reason we are happy A Ka Dope exists to pave way for these underground talents,” said Francis.

He thanked the sponsors for the overwhelming support that has placed the platform to yet another level.

“Honestly, I don’t know how to say this, but allow me thank Uganda Waragi among other sponsors for coming on board to change our platform which we believe is headed for greater levels.”

Kyomukama rallied other companies to come on board and called for collaboration from various participants so as to take ‘A ka Dope’ even higher.

“We are so grateful for the level we are currently on, but I encourage you to work with us and we keep things moving for the better. I must also assure you that collaboration is one of the most important values for A Ka Dope. If it wasn’t for that, we wouldn’t be where we are right now,” Francis further explained.

Kyomukama advised the artists that since the platform will now be partnering with Universal Music which will be helping them further to create an experience beyond what they know and do, it is therefore high time they stopped playing games and unleashed unto the world what they can offer.

At the launch, guests were treated to exciting performances from the A Ka Dope band who did cover songs notable among others New Edition’s version of ‘Can You Stand The Rain’ track that kept many singing the lyrics along with the band, never missing a single word.

Speaking during the launch, Agaba Tumusiime, Uganda Waragi (UG) Brand Ambassador, encouraged the artists to bring their ‘A’ game as the brand will for a long time continue supporting them in nurturing and uplifting their talents.

“UG, as we all know, celebrates Ugandan spirit, music and art among others which are some of the things that bind us together. That is why UG will keep supporting you, all you have to do is bring up your ‘A’ game and we are good to go.”

A Ka Dope featuring a well-mixed variation of performers such as Musicians, Painters, Poets and Actors among others, has for the past 3 years had numerous episodes  with different themes including A ka dope first Fridays, A ka dope weekends, A ka dope in the wild and A ka dope nights among others.
