Four Confirmed Dead In Kasese Rains

The mayor of Kasese district, Godfrey Kayanga revealed that the four people drowned as they tried to rescue goods from a flooded shop in Kilembe however the running water was strong enough to wash them away.

Meanwhile these rains have left many homes, houses, crops, electricity poles, bridges destroyed, washed and up to now people are still just trying to rescue their properties.


Many injured people are reported to be at Kilembe Hospital and others camping at the staff quarters while others have been referred to Kasese Municipal Health Center II and Kabarole hospital.

The Uganda Red Cross is also helping to assist the affected families which were left displaced with basic essentials and First Aid.

The most affected areas are reported to be Bulembya and Nyakasanja.

However, it is still raining in the Rwenzori Mountains and the waters are increasing.

River Nyamwamba is one of the water bodies in the Rwenzori region. It is formed by melting glaciers in the Nyamugasani Valley and makes its way through the green Nyamwamba Valley. To the east it joins the Rukoki River, passes through Queen Elizabeth National Park, finally flowing into Lake George.
