The four expelled NRM MPs include Mr Theodore Sekikubo (Lwemiyaga), Mr Mohammad Nsereko (Kampala Central), Mr Wilfred Niwagaba (Ndorwa East) and Mr Barnabas Tinkasiimire (Buyaga West).

“From yesterday (14th) Kyamadidi is not supposed to attend any NRM village, Sub-county, County or district meeting and activities,” said Mbabazi as he addressed journalists on April 15.

He added that Kyamadidi is to stay out of parliament for three months and not attend both plenary and committee meetings.

However, as he was speaking in Parliament on Monday, Kyamadidi affirmed that he is an active member of Parliament and would continue with all his legislative business as usual.

“I am just from attending the Natural Resource Committee meeting as a representative of Rwampara constituency and I am not bothered by those things in the media about the suspension,” he said.

He added that he has not received any letter either from the Secretary General of the party or the Chief Whip Kasule Lumumba ordering him to stop his legislative duties.

When asked by Chimpreports if his suspension is not a silent ploy to get rid of him from Parliament because any member who misses 15 consecutive parliamentary sittings is liable to lose his seat, Kyamadidi asserted that he is aware of the law, adding: “I shall cross the bridge when it comes.”
