Proflic forward Kato has guided CRO to three straight wins and a not a single loss at home enroute promotion to the elite league.

In the other match, Kawempe giants Bright Stars were 1-0 winners over Wandegeya F.C at the Kawanda grounds.

Ex-Cranes midfield maestro Willy Kyambadde was in fine form as he guided Bright Stars to promotion.

The Kawempe-based side will for the first time play in the Ugandan top flight since its inception.

Wandegeya were never going to be pushovers and arrived with an outside chance of making the play-offs.

Happy Times .. Bright Stars celebrate Promotion

And they quickly put Bright Stars on the back foot as veteran Walusimbi Sula (once played with Uganda Cranes assistant Fred Kajoba in the 1980s) tested keeper Red Ice with a long-range shot.

And another Wandegeya midfielder Kato Sula came the closest to scoring when his terrific 20-yard free-kick flew over the bar.

Bright Stars’ Hassan Kikoyo became increasingly frustrated. He could have enjoyed a simple tap-in had Willy Kyambadde released the ball earlier.

Yet Kyambadde was playing well and he got the home fans on the edge of pitch by sending a left-footed low strike a few meters wide and patrolling the midfield like a genius.

There were still a few nervous moments at the back for Bright Stars and Bernard Muwanga should have done better in a dangerous area for the topflight newbies but he managed to spoon the ball off-play a number of times while Akram Kakembo was also disastrous in right back.

But he later delivered a cracking header to score the lone goal from a Steven Sajjabi corner kick which Pico Seguya could not keep out to send the whole field into celebration.

Bright Stars climaxed at 38 points to pimp Richard Makumbi’s Soana FC, 3-1 winners over Utoda at Kavumba to top place by only one point leaving Soana to battle Koboko, Soroti Garage and Mbale Heroes in the playoffs for the remaining single slot.
