Minister Mallinga’s Body Lies In state

The body was received Tuesday by deputy speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanya.

Former Premier Apollo Nsibambi, ministers Jessica Alupo and James Mutende paid their respect to the deceased. Former Lands Minister Omara Atubo was also in attendance.

A special Parliamentary sitting be held in Mallinga’s honor at 2:00pm today.


The former Health Minister will be laid to rest on Thursday at his home in Butebo.

A special sitting of Pallisa district local government will be held on Wednesday to honor the fallen Minister.

Doctors say Mallinga succumbed to heart failure.

He was on Monday described as hardworking, visionary and a strong NRM cadre at the Requiem Mass at All Saints’ Church, Nakasero, Kampala.

The Deputy Prime Minister Gen Moses Ali described him as a staunch supporter of NRM whose dedication to developing the country will be dearly missed.

The deceased’S wife, Beatrice Mallinga referred to him as a loving, principled, time conscious, intelligent, hardworking, brave and humorous.

“I loved Mallinga so much. I will miss him so much. He has left behind all these children that need material and psychological support. This is a very painful and trying moment for us,” wept Beatrice.

The departed minister survived by eight children and 11 grandchildren.
