Appearing on a television programme on Monday, Nsereko charged: “We are determined to ensure proper democratic change and distribution of resources and ready to resist all illicit tendencies of NRM which are not pro-people.”

He added: “Ugandans should write the future of their country, not a clique of leaders.”

The fired lawmaker said ODM would accommodate “all those who are sick and tired of NRM.”

Nsereko said “using arrogance over reason by a group of people has no place in Uganda and this country can be better without them,” adding, “By 2015, almost all Ugandans would have suffered repercussions of the bad NRM policies.”

The unfolding events in NRM point to a deepening crisis of internal power struggles ahead of the 2016 elections.

Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi is expected to brief press on the crisis at the party headquarters in Nakasero today afternoon.
