The match was also aimed at highlighting the achievements that have been accomplished between Nyanza district and Rwanda National Police.
There have been a good working relationship between Rwanda National Police and Nyanza district and the two bodies share a pact aimed at fighting gender-based violence, fight against drug abuse and fight against abuse of children among others.
The friendly match attracted different officials who include Nyanza District Mayor Abdallah Murenzi, executive secretary of Busasamana sector, ACP Willyson Rubanzana, Director of Community Police, Chief Superintendent Sam Rumanzi and Nyanza District officer Superintendant Jules Rutayisire.
The theme of the day was to fight sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS and violence against young children.
In his remarks, Mayor Murenzi told the gathering to desist from prostitution and drunkardness and avoid any form of violence committed towards women and children.
ACP Rubanzana said that Police is committed to fighting gender-based violence and has invested a lot in ensuring that violence against women and girls is brought to an end in the society.
He also added that the Police institued the Anti-GBV department to deal with related cases and they are so many clubs countrywide that were set up to address the issue, calling on the
public to always do their best in fighting any form of violence even in their homes.
The friendly match ended with Police’s team, Interforce defeating Nyanza District 3-2. Emmanuel Bizimana scored a hattrick for Police while Yusuf Tuyisenge and Mayor Murenzi scored
consolation goals for Nyanza district respectively.
