Uganda which hosted the International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa Twenty 20 Division 1 Qualifier last month and won seven of eight games they played against Kenya, Botswana, Nigeria and Tanzania.

Although Uganda lost to Kenya in the final game of the tournament by 19 runs,
the team qualified alongside the newly crowned African PL Champions and will participate in the Global Twenty 20 cricket World Cup qualifier set for October-November in Dubai.

‘’We would very much like to thank the journalists and the cricket fans,’’ Captain Davis Karashani was quoted in his acceptance speech.


“I can’t promise much but I am certain that the team is training hard

for the task ahead,’’ he added in a Question &Answer session thereafter.

In a not so common occurrence, senior player Richard Okia entertained the journalists with his teammates rhyming along.

Team Uganda will travel to Bermuda at the end of the month to take part in the upcoming World Cricket League.
