It is been a while since the National Cricket Team was recognized by the local scribes for its performance but after the all-conquering display in the recently concluded Pepsi ICC Africa T20 Qualifiers, Martin Suji’s team was dually recognized today.

The Cricketers pooled 40 votes more to attain the Nile Special Sports Personality of February and fend off competition from recently pronounced East African University Games champions Ndejje University who incidentally had the same number of Gold medals (19) as fellow counterparts Kampala University and Kampala International University.

Team Uganda opened up with a thrashing of Kenya enroute to another seven match winning streak though Neighbors Kenya runaway with the converted trophy. Uganda though had qualified for the Global Qualifier set for October-November in Dubai UAE.

USPA recommended Moses Kipsiro and Viola Kyemos for winning the National Cross Country championships male and female senior races and making the IAAF X-try team bound for Poland, Ponsiano Lwakataka for winning the Mbarara Rally Championship and Heathen’s Philip Wakorach for his great form in the Nile Special Super 8 League.

The cricketers will receive their plaque and Sh.500, 000 next Thursday at Lugogo Tennis Canteen.
