Don Rukare replaces Makerere University Sports tutor Peninah Kabenge who not to be re-elected citing need to concentrate on other things, “I’ve done my part and it’s time to leave for fresh ideas” read her resignation letter.

Controversially, Uganda Canoeing/Kayaking Federation’s Dr. James Ssekajugo who had earlier publically shown interest to stand for UOC Presidency was disqualified after four out of the six Executive Committee members protested against him for not being a recognized member of the Canoeing fraternity. He could however not be reached for a comment as all his phones were off.

William Blick the Rugby Uganda head has in less than a year signed protocol with both the Russian and South African Committees. He has also brought on board the American Athlete in Action, UK Sports among others. His mother federation is considered by many atop of the most performing in Uganda thus the vote of confidence from the Committee.

“Am absolutely happy to have my core team of members that I’ve chosen to work with voted unopposed. It really shows the unanimous acceptance and confidence from our affiliates in the last eight month.” William Blick told chimpreports

When asked about his choice for Don Rukare as his General Secretary, Blick said, “Don is a better administrator than Madam Kabenge because it’s the main reason why the Executive Committee chose him to replace her, but quote me well; it was her personal decision to resign so I can’t comment on that.”

FUBA President Ambrose Tashobya was also fronted unopposed by the Rugby and Swimming federations for Vice President while Uganda Athletics Federation’s Godfrey Nuwagaba was retained as Treasurer.

Uganda Weightlifting federation’s Salim Ssenkungu, Gabriel W.J Oloka from Shooting, Moses Mwase of Uganda Swimming Federation and Volleyball’s Sadiq Nasiwu will battle for the two remaining places on the Committee come March 9th after Sheila Agonzibwe and Sharifah Sanyu automatically fill the quota as it stipulates atleast two ladies on the committee.

According to the Kenneth Kitariko the Returning Officer, though 21 forms were picked only 13 were returned with Taekwondo’s Simon Peter Komakech declared void without the mandatory nominations from two different federations; instead his federation nominated him twice.
