Museveni: We’ve Contained Besigye’s Walk to Work Protests

The “Walk to work” protests nearly brought the country to a standstill as opposition activists battled security forces on Kampala streets for several weeks.

The activists accused government of falling short of combating corruption; high cost of living and escalating unemployment rates.

Museveni said Uganda was now peaceful, adding he would not allow any negative forces to destabilize the country.


“And you know it was not easy. You saw, Lakwena came up to here. FOBA(Force Obote Back) was in this area. But the NRM was able to withstand those challenges with limited resources and bring peace to the whole country,” said Museveni.
