Police have arrested eight suspects who reportedly participated in the violent attack on a man at the Lugogo traffic lights in Kampala this past weekend.
Pictures of the victim whose face was bruised in the attack sparked outrage across the country.
His car’s windscreens were shattered and personal belongings stolen.
Police said in a statement the suspects were being detained at Kiira Road Police station.
“Kiira Road Police got information about the incident and responded immediately arresting the suspects who were still at the scene looting the victim’s properties,” said police on Monday night.
Several people have complained about the attacks along Lugogo by thugs.
Police appealed to members of the public “not to panic or fear as we have already intensified both foot and motorised patrols in all the black spots including Lugogo bypass.”
