Mr Museveni was speaking during a fund-raising drive on Saturday for Aunt Mary Word of Life Primary School that is sited in Kibutama village on the outskirts of Mushanga area in Sheema District, South Western Uganda.
The President contributed Shs50 million towards the school’s project of the construction of Primary 6 and Primary 7 classroom block.
He paid tribute to the School’s Director, Ms Mary Kafureeka, a long-time civil servant but now retired, for not only establishing the institution but also for promoting income generating activities in her area.
He also lauded her for the maintenance of her father’s homestead in Kibutama village, noting that her ardent effort in that endeavour would make a big contribution to the area’s community to be able to appreciate the virtue of treasuring and valuing the essence of our places of origin that largely helped and shaped what we may have achieved in our later adult life.
On her part, Kafureeka, saluted the President for his dedication to the promotion of education in Uganda, especially for his concern for the uplifting and development of the girl-child.
She reported that the project started in 2008 as a nursery school adding that the dedication of the team that she works with, would no doubt see the phase of the construction of the new P.6 and P.7 block completed in due course.
