In what was the team’s maiden match ever since receiving recognition from FIFA as a newly born footballing state, South Sudan shared spoils with Uganda in a 2-2 draw in a game played to mark the nation’s first independence anniversary.

The match, watched by an excited mammoth crowd, was officiated by Kenyan referees Thomas Onyango assisted by Brasan Mamati and Jubal Mwagawilo.

Ceaser Okhuti and Julius Ogwang netted Uganda’s goals to scoop a 2-2 draw.
