Over 500 young entrepreneurs are expected to participate in Total Uganda Limited StartUpper of the year challenge where the top three winners will walk away with over Shs 150m.
The challenge was launched on the 9th of October this year with the aim of helping and giving support to young entrepreneurs who don’t have access to financing despite their good ideas.
According to Hillary Baguma, the project manager and CSR coordinator at Total Uganda Limited, every young entrepreneur below the age of 35 who has a new business idea in any category idea or a business of less than 2 years is eligible to participate in the challenge.
The competitors will present and peach ideas with focus on social impact, feasibility and innovation.
“In addition to the money that is up for winning, the participants will also benefit from coaching on the basics of doing a successful business. They will be taught on how to run a business, structuring of a business, how to pinch an idea and other basics of business running” he said during a training for some of the participants that had come to register their ideas and business” he said.
This is the second time Total Uganda is carrying out such a competition for young entrepreneurs. The first was in 2015 where over 400 startups participated.
This competition is also being done in 55 countries around the world where Total Limited operates.
Young entrepreneurs in Uganda were called to apply before 13th of November 2018
