5 Civilians Committed to General Court Martial for Trial

The Unit Disciplinary Committee (UDC) sitting at the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence headquarters in Mbuya on Wednesday committed five civilians and one soldier to the Makindye based General Court Martial for hearing of offences against them

The civilians are Erepu Joakim, Okei, Omera, Nyanzi Allan and Ssentongo Rogers

UDC chairman Col Tom Kabuye while committing the suspects revealed that allegations against Erepu Joakim is that he was arrested while in possession of military Information both in hard and soft copy on his laptop, while Okei and Omera were both found with fire arms and ammunitions which were illegally acquired.

It’s alleged that the fourth civilian Nyanzi Allan,  a resident of Salama Zikusooka village was arrested wearing military uniform and disguising as a UPDF soldier.

Also in court was Mr Ssentongo Rogers who was found in unlawful possession of military stores which included, Military Uniforms, military shoes, military jackets and a bag.

Lance Corporal Orono, the only UPDF officer in the group is accused of killing Mr Sserwadda Simon of Kazo in Kawempe Division.

Col Kabuye said that as the army they will not allow civilians to taint the image of the army by committing crimes in the army uniform.

Any time the group is expected to appear before Makindye General court martial chaired by Lt Gen Andrew Gutti for their trial.
